The Monetary Authority of Macao published an update on the completion of a two-week advanced training and study visit programme for the Association of Lusophone Insurance Supervisors. Nineteen insurance supervisors from six Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao completed the programme and received certificates at the closing ceremony. Jointly organised with Portugal’s Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority, the programme focused on “Development and supervision of insurance to meet the challenges of the new era” and covered insurance and technology topics including digital transformation in insurance, regulation of financial technologies and data governance. Participants also exchanged views with Macao’s insurance sector on the development and operation of the local market, and visited Hengqin, Dongguan and Shenzhen to tour cybersecurity centres and research parks, conduct thematic surveys of insurtech insurance firms, and review applications involving 5G, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital finance and insurance, including AI-based underwriting and real-time online claims services. The itinerary included a visit to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange to review technology use in risk management, equity trading and information disclosure, and a tour of Macao’s exhibition pavilion for the China–Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform. The closing ceremony brought together representatives from AMCM, ASF, Angola’s insurance supervisor and Mozambique’s insurance supervisor, alongside guests from the Macao Insurance Association.
