The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan has warned consumers about fraudulent investment platforms that imitate banks, financial organizations and investment firms. These schemes use social media advertising, promises of rapid or guaranteed high returns, fabricated investor reviews and images or videos of public figures, including content created or altered with artificial intelligence, to obtain funds and personal or payment data. Warning signs include advertisements from suspicious accounts, links that do not lead to an organization’s official website, pressure to invest quickly and requests to download applications outside the Apple App Store or Google Play. Consumers should verify that a financial organization is licensed through the agency’s website, confirm investment offers directly on the organization’s official website and never disclose bank card details, passwords or SMS codes. If a platform’s legitimacy is uncertain, consumers should not transfer money or install its applications before verifying the information.
