The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) has updated its website-based lookup tool that lets consumers verify whether insurers, open supplementary pension entities and capitalization companies are authorised to operate, adding each supervised entity’s website to the information displayed to help users confirm they are dealing with the legitimate firm. The search function already provided basic company details such as head office address and lines of business, and now also includes the entity’s website as reported by the company to SUSEP. SUSEP recommends that, before buying insurance online, consumers check both the firm’s authorisation status and whether the site used for contracting actually belongs to the authorised entity.
