The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) issued cease-and-desist and blocking orders against six websites offering insurance services without authorisation, requiring internet providers operating in Italy to disable access. The blocking process is underway and may take a few days for technical reasons. The sites named in the order are cassaruraleldifassaeagordino.it, filippoamatoconsulenzapatrimoniale.it, franchi-assicurazioni.com, assibo.eu, vitalone-assicurazioni.it and savonegiacinto.com (including “www” versions where used). The orders are published in IVASS’s “Difendiamoci dalle truffe” section, and the total number of websites targeted by cessation orders has reached 194 since IVASS began using its blocking power in November 2023. IVASS also urged consumers to exercise caution with insurance offers received online, by phone or via messaging apps, particularly short-term motor third-party liability policies, and to verify that insurers and intermediaries are authorised by consulting IVASS registers, including the Single Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
