The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, together with the World Bank, organised a preparatory workshop focused on the technical aspects of Kosovo’s prospective membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), as part of the National Payments Council’s ongoing work on SEPA integration. The event brought together representatives from the European Payments Council and the European Central Bank, World Bank experts, international financial institutions, and participants from banks and non-bank financial institutions. Discussions centred on identifying the technical, operational and legal requirements for connecting to SEPA and on building human and technical capacity through practical exchanges, including lessons from countries that have already completed the process. Opening remarks by Governor Ahmet Ismaili and World Bank practice manager Martha Licetti also highlighted the need for adequate planning and effective communication with payment system participants and the wider public on expectations and benefits.
