Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) held an online meeting with the insurance industry to agree an approach to accelerate review and compensation payments for earthquake-related claims, with a focus on facilitating affected people’s claims and supporting documentation. The discussions prioritised faster damage inspections and claim consideration, and the industry committed to settling compensation as quickly as possible. Insurers were asked to report information on claim assessments and payments to the OIC for monitoring and verification, while the OIC’s Rights Protection Division continues to coordinate with relevant public and private agencies and has set up insurance assistance centres at OIC offices nationwide.
