The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with a Visa delegation to discuss priority areas for developing financial technologies, digital payment infrastructure and modern financial services in Uzbekistan. Topics included work on the National Strategy for Financial Technology Development for 2026–2030, creation of a national payment switch, and the introduction of unified standards for QR payments. Discussions also covered development of Open Banking and the rollout of account-to-account money transfer services, alongside broader plans for developing the fintech ecosystem and positioning Uzbekistan as a regional fintech hub. A fintech event is planned to be held in Uzbekistan in 2026, intended to bring together central banks, policymakers, international financial institutions, venture funds and fintech companies. The parties indicated they will continue dialogue and cooperation on these areas.
