The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has published a warning from Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited about a fraudulent website, hxxps[:]//paymentystem[.]lat, that falsely claims to be from HKICL. The site is designed to obtain users’ login credentials and direct them to WhatsApp chats with fraudsters posing as customer service personnel. HKICL said the website is not affiliated with it or any of its business. It added that it does not operate any WhatsApp communication channel and would not normally contact individual members of the public proactively, identified https://www.hkicl.com.hk as its genuine website, and urged the public to treat suspicious calls, websites and other communications with caution and report suspected fraud to the Police.
