The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has transferred and appointed Doan Manh Tu, previously head of the SBV Inspectorate’s unit for complaints, denunciations and anti-corruption, as Deputy General Director of Vietnam Deposit Insurance (DIV). The appointment, signed by the SBV Governor on 7 November 2025 and announced at a Hanoi ceremony attended by SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh, was framed as part of efforts to strengthen DIV’s leadership as SBV works with the National Assembly and Government on a new Deposit Insurance Law. SBV indicated that the draft law would significantly expand DIV’s mandate, including involvement in the restructuring of credit institutions, increased inspection and supervision of people’s credit funds, and broader investment and deposit product activities. DIV’s chair Pham Bao Lam noted that the Deposit Insurance Law is expected to be passed in the period ahead, and linked the reinforcement of senior roles to implementing the expanded framework once adopted.
