Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance discussed potential pension reforms with representatives of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and International Labour Organization. The talks focused on strengthening the system's long term sustainability, expanding population coverage and adapting pension arrangements to demographic change while reflecting international experience and Uzbekistan's socioeconomic conditions. Participants considered ways to improve the formation of pension entitlements, develop the funded component and better integrate different pension components. They also discussed pension fund governance, individual pension accounts, investment mechanisms and institutional approaches to managing pension assets, with further expert cooperation expected to address the actuarial, financial and social dimensions of reform.
