The National Futures Association and the Securities and Exchange Commission announced a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation, coordination and information sharing on matters of common regulatory interest. The agreement creates a formal framework for staff to exchange information on emerging risks, examination planning and financial market conditions. It also provides for periodic staff meetings. The two bodies said the arrangement is intended to support compliance with derivatives and securities laws, maintain oversight quality and reduce duplicative efforts, with the Securities and Exchange Commission linking it to a broader push to streamline cooperation with other regulatory organizations and limit potentially duplicative or conflicting oversight.
