The Central Bank of Liberia has launched the third county-level edition of its Financial Education and Literacy Program alongside the Pan African Payments and Settlement System in Sanniquellie, Nimba County. The update combines grassroots financial capability training with outreach on PAPSS, which the bank described as enabling cross-border payments in local currencies rather than requiring foreign exchange. The program is intended to help residents improve financial planning and money management and support more sustainable small business activity. Delivery in Nimba County is being carried out by the Female Journalists Association of Liberia and the Office of the Culture and Arts Ambassador of Liberia, with outreach targeted at local businesspeople and community groups. Twelve community mobilizers received certificates after a two-day training and form the program’s third trained cohort, following earlier sessions in Grand Gedeh and Lofa counties. The bank also emphasized a locally based delivery model, with mobilizers drawn from the communities they will serve. The Nimba launch forms part of a nationwide rollout. Upcoming training sessions are planned for Bong, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount and other counties.
