The Astana Financial Services Authority has published its expected approach to testing event-based contracts in the Astana International Financial Centre. Testing will be limited to the AIFC FinTech Lab and contracts tied to financial or economic events. Products may be offered only to Professional Clients and eligible Semi-professional Clients who pass an appropriateness assessment, excluding the general retail public. Contracts must be fully collateralized, with margin and leverage prohibited. Testing firms must clearly disclose the products’ risks, obtain clients’ acknowledgment of their binary, all-or-nothing nature, and maintain controls against market abuse and financial crime. The authority will assess applications individually and may adjust conditions, restrict products or halt testing where risks arise.
