The South African Reserve Bank published SADC-RTGS settlement statistics and indicators for October 2025, reporting that the regional real-time gross settlement system processed 170,164 transactions valued at ZAR 271.55 billion. Average daily throughput was 6,302 transactions with an average value of ZAR 10.06 billion. Cumulative settlement since inception reached 5,810,129 transactions totalling ZAR 18.04 trillion (USD 1,042.63 billion or EUR 901.58 billion using end-October 2025 rates of USD/ZAR 17.3066 and EUR/ZAR 20.0142). October 2025 marked the system’s highest monthly value to date, while the peak monthly volume was 183,013 transactions in October 2024. The TCIB payments scheme settled 267 transactions worth ZAR 365.54 million; participation covered 15 countries and 88 banks (including central banks), with eight TCIB scheme participants. Daily-average overnight balances excluding the South African Reserve Bank were ZAR 2,904.65 million across 80 participants, split between ZAR 120.61 million held by other central banks and ZAR 2,784.04 million held by commercial banks.
