UK HM Treasury convened representatives from the U.S. Treasury and U.S. regulatory agencies in London for joint senior-level industry engagement under the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future. The discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen links between UK and U.S. capital markets and to collaborate on digital assets. The engagement, held on 26 January 2026, forms part of the Taskforce’s programme of industry outreach to ensure its work reflects practical priorities on both sides of the Atlantic. The Taskforce was established in September 2025 by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, during President Trump’s state visit to the UK. Further joint engagements in the United States are anticipated in February 2026. The Taskforce expects to report recommendations to both finance ministries via the UK-U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group in summer 2026.
