The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has opened a representative office in China’s Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area to support growing demand for the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and the verifiable LEI (vLEI), and to help advance digital organizational identity in the region. Led by Yanzhao Zhang, the office is intended to deepen collaboration with local authorities, expand LEI and vLEI infrastructure, and support China’s cross-border trade and digital trust objectives, referencing regulatory momentum and the People’s Bank of China’s roadmap for LEI adoption. The move follows GLEIF’s recent regional expansion with offices in Tokyo, Singapore, and Mumbai.
