The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation has appointed eMudhra as a Validation Agent of Legal Entity Identifier India Limited, enabling organizations in India to apply for and renew Legal Entity Identifiers through eMudhra’s existing identity verification and onboarding processes. The integration is intended to reduce duplicate checks, while Legal Entity Identifier India Limited will remain responsible for issuing and maintaining records under Global Legal Entity Identifier System requirements. Legal Entity Identifier India Limited is a foundation-accredited issuer and the only Legal Entity Identifier issuer recognized by the Reserve Bank of India. The appointment expands access as India, which had the world’s largest number of active Legal Entity Identifiers by January 2026, recorded the highest jurisdictional growth rate in the second quarter. Demand is supported by Reserve Bank of India requirements for resident and nonresident participants in specified government securities, money market, foreign exchange and derivatives transactions to obtain and maintain a current identifier.
