The Congo Insurance Regulation and Control Authority has handed over a batch of SNECA CHECK computer terminals to the national police to support roadside checks of compulsory motor third party liability insurance. The equipment is intended to give traffic police a digital tool for administering ongoing control of motor insurance coverage on public roads. During the handover, the authority outlined the insurance regulatory framework in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, presented the six classes of insurance made compulsory by law, and stressed the need for police support in permanent checks of motor liability insurance. A technical demonstration explained how the SNECA system works with the SNECA CHECK kit, and a live test was conducted. In closing remarks, the police said the tool should help modernize control operations and reduce congestion around roadside checkpoints.
