Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance published its January 2026 progress update on the out-of-court debt settlement mechanism, reporting a new record high of EUR 773 million in debts settled through the platform and 2,554 settlements completed during the month. January’s settled amount exceeded the previous record in June 2025 by EUR 113 million. Since the mechanism’s launch, 53,307 settlements have been completed, covering initial debts of EUR 16.53 billion, with 68.6% relating to natural persons who are traders. For financially vulnerable households, 274 arrangements were completed in January, including 37 for persons with disabilities, while 440 debtors have secured suspension of enforcement measures since implementation began. Bilateral loan arrangements with the four largest servicers Intrum, Cepal, DoValue and Qquant reached EUR 442 million for 5,522 debtors in December 2025, compared with EUR 412 million in the same month a year earlier. The General Secretariat for the Financial Sector and Private Debt Management also highlighted nationwide support via appointment-based video call or telephone through the gov.gr platform.
