The Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued a public scam alert highlighting bank press releases on fraudulent websites and fake internet banking login screens that have been reported to the HKMA, with links to the individual bank notices made available on the HKMA website. The alert covers China CITIC Bank International Limited, Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, The Bank of East Asia, Limited, Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited, Chong Hing Bank Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, Dah Sing Bank, Limited, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Nanyang Commercial Bank, Limited. The HKMA reiterated that banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not request sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords via phone, email or SMS; affected individuals are advised to contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force.
