The Central Bank of Montenegro reported that Governor Irena Radovic met Veljko Milonjic ahead of his appointment as Montenegro’s Ambassador to Poland, focusing on the current and future direction of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economy. The discussion reviewed the history of Montenegro–Poland economic relations and potential ways to strengthen them. Radovic pointed to existing cooperation between the Central Bank of Montenegro and Narodowy Bank Polski, including work under the EU-financed regional programme to strengthen central bank capacities in the Western Balkans in preparation for integration into the European System of Central Banks, and the regular participation of Central Bank of Montenegro staff in seminars and gatherings organised by Narodowy Bank Polski. The two officials also noted that Poland’s role as chair of the Council of the European Union from 1 January to 30 June 2025 creates an additional opportunity to advance cooperation linked to Montenegro’s European integration efforts.
