The Securities and Exchange Commission of the Republic of North Macedonia reported that its President, Bujaré Abazi, participated in International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) events in Malta on 18–19 November 2025, covering key policy debates on market stability and supervisory practice. On the sidelines, Abazi met IOSCO Secretary General Rodrigo Buenaventura to discuss closer regulatory cooperation, the Commission’s participation in IOSCO capacity-building initiatives, and the development of modern supervisory technologies in North Macedonia’s financial sector. The Malta Financial Services Agency-hosted conference, held ahead of the IOSCO Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC) and European Regional Committee meetings, addressed economic risks, capital market transformation, digitalisation, the use of artificial intelligence in supervision, cryptocurrency regulation, and global sustainability reporting standards. The GEMC plenary on 19 November brought together more than 90 member states and discussed financial inclusion, fintech innovation, tokenisation, market infrastructure, investor protection, and capital raising, with IOSCO’s leadership highlighting its work on responsible use of AI, crypto regulation and market resilience with a focus on developing countries and investor protection.
