The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Sam Waldon will leave the agency on July 31, 2026, ending more than 14 years at the SEC, and that Osman Nawaz will succeed him as Principal Deputy Director of the Division of Enforcement. The update centers on a senior leadership change in the enforcement division. Waldon most recently served as Principal Deputy Director after periods as Acting Deputy Director from October 2024 to January 2025 and as Acting Director of Enforcement on two occasions in 2025 and 2026. Earlier in his SEC career, he served as a staff attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel in the Division of Enforcement from 2022 through 2024. Nawaz previously worked at the SEC from 2010 to 2024 and rejoined the agency last month. His prior roles in the Division of Enforcement included staff attorney, Assistant Regional Director and Chief of the Complex Financial Instruments Unit.
