Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency (SIPEN) delivered a social security and pensions training session for staff of the Superintendence of Electricity, aimed at strengthening understanding of affiliates’ rights within the Dominican Pension System. The initial session also marked the formal start of the Superintendence of Electricity’s process to obtain SIPEN’s “Here We Know About Pensions” seal. The seal recognises institutions that train more than 70% of their workforce on social security topics. The session, part of SIPEN’s continuous training programme, was led by Otoniel Medina, a senior analyst in the Benefits Department, and was complemented by one-to-one consultations offered by the Tu Futuro user service centre at its “Know Your Future” stand. SIPEN also encouraged affiliates to contact their pension fund administrator (AFP) directly rather than using intermediaries, noting that AFPs provide free legal support.
