The Bank of the Lao reported that a delegation led by Deputy Governor Sulisak Thammavong attended the 2025 Global Finance Forum hosted by the People’s Bank of China School of Finance at Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, China. The forum ran from 17–20 May 2025 under the theme “A Shared Future: Building an Open and Inclusive Economic and Financial System”, with the delegation contributing as a panelist in a session focused on inclusive finance and sharing perspectives on Laos’ work to expand access to financial services. Alongside the forum, the delegation met bilaterally with Zhang Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of Tsinghua University’s PBC School of Finance, to discuss potential future cooperation, particularly knowledge exchange and short-term training for banking-sector staff. Tsinghua University also arranged a study visit for delegates to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Bank of China (Hong Kong) on 19 May 2025.
