Latvia's Ministry of Finance discussed the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's planned 2026–2031 strategy for Latvia with the head of the bank's Baltic office. The ministry called for the EBRD's investment priorities to be more closely aligned with Latvia's economic development, regional growth and security needs. The discussions emphasized continued EBRD involvement in developing Baltic capital markets, building on a memorandum signed at the bank's Riga meetings in June. Latvia also prioritized deeper European Union integration in transport, energy and financial markets, broader regional partnerships and international financial institution involvement in strengthening the country's eastern border.
