The Central Bank of Egypt reported a sharp rise in remittances from Egyptians working abroad over the March 2024 to February 2025 period, describing it as an unprecedented historic surge following economic reform measures taken in March 2024. Remittance inflows increased by 72.4% to around USD 32.6 billion from USD 13.7 billion. February 2025 remittances extended the upward trend for a twelfth consecutive month, more than doubling to about USD 3.0 billion compared with around USD 1.3 billion in February 2024, which the central bank described as the highest February inflows on record.
