The Hong Kong Monetary Authority alerted the public to bank-issued press releases on scams that had been reported to the authority, including fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scam activity. The related bank press releases are linked on the HKMA website. The authority reiterated that banks will not send SMS messages or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to conduct transactions. Banks also will not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords by phone, email or SMS. Individuals who disclosed personal information or carried out financial transactions in response to the scams were advised to contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force's Crime Wing Information Centre.
