The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a commemorative 20-hryvnia silver coin marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s Declaration of Independence. Part of the Ukrainian State series, the coin has a maximum mintage of 5,000 and was unveiled at Ukraine’s parliament, where the declaration was adopted on Aug. 24, 1991. The special uncirculated coin is made from 925-grade silver, weighs 62.2 grams and features patina and local gilding. Its design uses a soldier’s hand holding a shield and a child’s drawing to represent the defense of Ukraine’s independence and future. The coin will be available through the central bank’s online numismatic store and distributing banks, with the sales start date to be published separately.
