The Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency (SIPEN) participated in the Mercadexpo 2025 congress hosted by Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), focusing on pension education through direct engagement with more than 100 students and an interactive information stand open to the public. Participation centred on SIPEN’s involvement in Think Tank Labs, where student teams responded to a brief and proposed practical solutions to challenges in the Dominican pension system. Work was organised around two themes, “Invisible Savings”, aimed at improving perception and adoption of the concept within the individual capitalisation system, and “Complementary Savings for the First Home”, aimed at encouraging use of complementary pension accounts to save for a first home. A jury led by SIPEN’s Director of Pension Education and Member Services, Juan Manuel Pérez, assessed proposals against creativity, viability, potential impact and alignment with pension system objectives, and selected “Recarga tu Futuro” as the winning proposal in the “Invisible Savings” category; SIPEN also ran a “Tu Futuro” stand to encourage young attendees to learn about and discuss retirement planning.
