The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has opened a representative office in China’s Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area to meet growing demand for the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and the verifiable LEI (vLEI), positioning the office to support China’s push for cross-border trade and digital trust. Led by Yanzhao Zhang, the office is set to deepen collaboration with local authorities, expand LEI and vLEI infrastructure, and promote greater efficiency in global trade. The move aligns with regulatory momentum in China, including the People’s Bank of China’s roadmap for LEI adoption, and follows GLEIF’s recent openings in Tokyo, Singapore, and Mumbai.
