The Hong Kong Monetary Authority published its residential mortgage survey for July 2026, showing that mortgage applications fell 24% from June to 9,212, while approved loans declined 11.4% to HKD 44.8 billion. Approvals for primary and secondary market transactions fell 14.1% and 16.4%, respectively, while refinancing approvals rose 18.4% to HKD 7.3 billion. Mortgage loans drawn down increased 6% to HKD 29.4 billion, and outstanding mortgage lending rose 0.4% to HKD 1,963.5 billion at end-July. The share of new loans priced by reference to HIBOR declined to 61% from 70%, while the mortgage delinquency ratio remained low at 0.11% and the rescheduled loan ratio was nearly 0%.
