The Arab Monetary Fund has inaugurated the fifth workshop on enhancing the efficiency of public debt management in Arab countries, held remotely with public debt directors and senior technical officials from Arab ministries of finance and representatives from several international institutions. The workshop is intended to examine recent developments and challenges in public debt management and review international best practices and experience to support fiscal sustainability and economic stability across Arab countries. The Fund linked the workshop to ongoing global economic and financial challenges and to relatively higher public debt levels arising from regional and international developments and the need to support economic activity. It forms part of the Fund’s broader effort to help Arab countries improve public debt management, strengthen institutional and technical capacity, and deepen dialogue and exchange of expertise on related policies and procedures.
