The Central Bank of Peru reported that its president, Julio Velarde, is participating in the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., being held from 13 to 18 April 2026. As part of the programme, Velarde attended an event organised by the Council of the Americas and Citibank, where he was honoured for more than 20 years leading the central bank and for contributions to monetary stability and institutional credibility. He also spoke at a J.P. Morgan investor seminar and joined a panel on monetary policy prospects in the Andean region alongside the central bank heads of Chile and Colombia, highlighting recent strength in Peru’s economy and presenting macroeconomic projections covering GDP, the trade balance and inflation.
