The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has launched an agencywide Artificial Intelligence Task Force to advance the responsible use of AI to improve innovation and operational efficiency. Valerie Szczepanik has been named the SEC’s Chief AI Officer and will lead the task force. The task force is intended to centralize and align AI efforts across the Commission, enable cross-agency and cross-disciplinary collaboration across the AI lifecycle, remove barriers to progress, and focus on applications that maximize benefits while maintaining governance. It will support AI initiatives originating in SEC divisions and offices and facilitate responsible AI integration across the agency, including deploying AI-enabled tools and systems to augment staff capacity and improve efficiency and accuracy.
