The Central Bank of Iceland has appointed Karen Áslaug Vignisdóttir as acting Chief Economist and Director of Economics and Monetary Policy. Vignisdóttir joined the Central Bank as an economist in 2006 and has led Analysis and Publications in the Economics and Monetary Policy Department since 2018. She has also served as Deputy Chief Economist and as secretary to the Monetary Policy Committee, and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Aarhus University and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Iceland.
