The Central Bank of Cyprus published updated aggregate data for the Cyprus banking sector covering profitability, balance sheet and capital adequacy, with a reference date of 31 December 2025. Banking sector profitability in 2025 fell by EUR 165 million (13.9%) to EUR 1,024 million from EUR 1,189 million in 2024, mainly due to lower net interest income. Total assets increased by EUR 4,357 million (6.6%) to EUR 69,961 million from EUR 65,604 million at end-2024, driven primarily by higher loans and advances and debt securities. The Common Equity Tier 1 ratio improved by 1.1 percentage points to 25.8% from 24.7%, reflecting higher CET1 capital and a lower total risk exposure amount.
