The Chile Financial Market Commission has alerted the public to 13 loan applications that are not regulated by the commission and has filed charges with the Public Prosecutor's Office against those responsible. The commission said the apps offer loans while using extortive collection techniques and showing signs of usury. The applications are available for download through Google Play and other websites. Alongside the enforcement action, the commission reminded investors, policyholders and banking customers that its online Fraud Alerts Page can be used to check whether a person or entity offering financial products or services is supervised by the CMF and to review alerts issued by the CMF and foreign regulators on unregulated entities or activities.
