The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has formed a working group to develop a sectorwide strategy for social responsibility in nonbank financial activities. Chaired by Deputy Chairman Tarek Seif, the group will seek to replace isolated initiatives with an institutional framework that supports measurable, sustainable development outcomes and expands access to nonbank financial products and services for underserved groups. Its mandate includes financial awareness programs, field initiatives and partnerships with government bodies, financial institutions, industry federations and civil society organizations. The group will also assess regulatory and legislative gaps, propose incentives for nonbank financial institutions to broaden their social responsibility and sustainability practices, and study charitable investment funds as a sustainable financing tool for social and development initiatives. It will organize an annual conference to share international practices and initiatives across the regulated sector.
