Counterfeit 100 tala notes bearing serial numbers JD1276962, JD1276966 and JD1276969 have been reported. The public should check cotton paper banknotes for a watermark showing the profile of the late head of state and a bright CBS mark when held to the light. Genuine 50 and 100 tala notes should also display a see-through window as a continuous bold strip. Suspected counterfeit notes should not be used and should be reported promptly to the Central Bank or police.
