The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that an International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission has begun consultations under Article IV of the IMF Articles of Agreement. Chairman M.Zh. Turgunbaev, the Kyrgyz Republic’s Governor at the IMF, met the IMF team led by Dmitry Gershenson. Discussions covered the country’s macroeconomic situation, drivers of inflation and emerging external challenges, along with the National Bank’s current monetary policy and measures aimed at safeguarding financial sector stability. The consultation process is expected to include meetings between the IMF mission and representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Bank and other organisations to discuss macroeconomic conditions and policy measures.
