The European Payments Council (EPC) announced that the EPC Directory Service (EDS), which supports the Verification Of Payee (VOP) scheme, will move to LIVE mode on 2 September 2025. VOP scheme participants and Routing and/or Verification Mechanisms (RVMs) have been testing the EDS in an extended pilot since 24 June 2024, and all participants, RVMs and users registered during the pilot will be automatically recognised in Live mode without re-registration. The pilot environment will remain available for testing after go-live. Data entered in the pilot EDS before 22 August 2025 10:00 CET will be migrated to the Live environment, while data entered after that cut-off will not. The Live service will be available via the EDS web GUI at swiftrefdata.com, the automated download service at api.swiftrefdata.com and the consumer and provisioning API at api.swift.com. EPC also highlighted key data requirements after go-live, including that the “scheme operational readiness date” must be at least the current date plus three calendar days for new entries or updates, the “publish in EDS local file” option must be activated, and VOP API endpoints must be recorded with the environment set to Live and a start datetime on or after the operational readiness date. To support readiness for the VOP scheme effective date of 5 October 2025, EPC recommended setting an operational readiness date of 5 October 2025 in the EDS sufficiently in advance, for example one week before that date.
