Portugal's Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF) issued a regulatory standard setting the indices to be used for the automatic update of sums insured for housing-related risks, unless otherwise agreed in the policy, for insurance policies starting or renewing in the third quarter of 2025. The indices are intended to provide a reference value to help avoid sums insured becoming outdated, while noting that policyholders remain responsible for ensuring appropriate insured amounts, including for mandatory insurance, taking account of regional variations and changes to the insured property. For the third quarter of 2025, ASF set the Building Index (IE) at 561.38, the Home Contents Index (IRH) at 340.30, and the Combined Home Contents and Buildings Index (IRHE) at 472.95, with a base of 100 in the first quarter of 1987. The annex reports changes versus the prior quarter and the same quarter of the previous year, including IE up 0.45% quarter-on-quarter and 8.03% year-on-year, IRH up 1.59% and 4.89%, and IRHE up 0.78% and 7.10%; the draft standard went through public consultation and received no comments.
