The US White House published an assessment of the August jobs report, highlighting a gain of 162,000 jobs, nearly triple economists’ expectations and the second-largest monthly increase of President Donald Trump’s second term. It attributed the labor market performance to the administration’s economic policies and emphasized that more than one million private-sector jobs have been created during the term, while federal employment remains at its lowest recorded share of the workforce. Manufacturing added 16,000 jobs in August and 58,000 during the year, while construction employment rose by 22,000 during the month. Factory construction jobs have increased by nearly 100,000 during Trump’s second term. Labor force participation recorded its strongest increase in almost a year, and private-sector average weekly earnings rose 3.7% from a year earlier.
