In a newspaper interview, Deputy Minister Giorgos Kotsiras said Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance will soon submit an omnibus bill to Parliament that incorporates most of the government's previously announced extraordinary and permanent support measures, worth about EUR 800 million, and adds three provisions on private debt. The package centres on families, renters and pensioners, while the debt measures would reopen installment options, ease bank account seizures and widen access to the out-of-court mechanism. Measures described in the interview include a EUR 150 extraordinary payment per child with broader income criteria, an expanded rent refund covering about 85% of tenants, and a refund equivalent to two rent payments for doctors, teachers and nurses serving away from their home area. Support for low-income pensioners and persons with disabilities would rise to EUR 300 from EUR 250, with eligibility widened to cover 85% of pensioners aged over 65. On private debt, the bill would allow up to 72 installments for tax and social security arrears that became overdue by December 2023, permit the lifting of a bank account seizure after payment of 25% of the debt and settlement of the remaining obligations, and extend the out-of-court mechanism to debts from EUR 5,000.
