The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan reminded citizens that the Stop-credit service allows them to place a voluntary ban on taking out bank loans and microcredits as a protection against financial fraud. The service is available through the e-gov portal and mobile app, and once activated it adds a marker to the individual’s credit history that can be seen by banks and microfinance organizations when they check credit bureau data. An active ban means a financial institution should refuse a new lending application. If a loan is issued without the citizen’s consent despite the recorded restriction, that loan is subject to write-off. The restriction can be removed at any time, but it does not apply to pawnshops and other organizations that do not use credit bureau data when assessing borrowers. As of June 1, 2026, the service had been used 6.3 million times.
