The Qatar Financial Markets Authority opened the 50th Annual Meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in Doha, hosting a three-day programme bringing together global regulators, decision-makers and capital markets experts to exchange experiences and discuss regulatory best practices on issues including digitalisation, cybersecurity and market sustainability. The first day drew high-level participation including IOSCO Secretary General Rodrigo Buenaventura and IOSCO Board Chair Jean-Paul Servais, alongside representatives from over 130 IOSCO member jurisdictions and international financial institutions. Discussions included closed-door meetings of IOSCO committees and sessions on market efficiency and investor protection, capital market infrastructure, transparency and disclosure, and developments in fintech, artificial intelligence and sustainability, including meetings of the Affiliate Members Consultative Committee, the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee, the Africa/Middle-East Regional Committee, the Inter-American Regional Committee, the European Regional Committee and the Growth and Emerging Markets Committee.
