The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) used its participation in Cooptech Summit 2025 to discuss opportunities and challenges for the new insurance cooperatives segment and indicated that a draft regulation governing insurance cooperatives will be opened for public consultation soon. At the event in Belo Horizonte on 22 September, Prudential and Reinsurance Supervision Director Carlos Queiroz linked the sector’s readiness to the legislative process that led to Complementary Law No. 213/2025, arguing that Brazilian cooperativism has demonstrated maturity and the capacity to assume insurance risks across multiple segments to protect families and cooperative businesses. Cooptech Summit 2025, held within the World Coop Management congress, is focused on technology adoption, artificial intelligence applications, intercooperation and innovation, and digital transformation, with an expected attendance of more than 2,000 participants. The planned consultation is intended to gather suggestions from civil society on the draft rules for insurance cooperatives.
