The Spanish Securities Commission (CNMV) has signed the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ Enhanced Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (EMMoU), a multilateral framework for consultation, cooperation and information exchange among securities regulators. By joining the EMMoU, CNMV expands its ability to cooperate with other signatories in obtaining and sharing audit documents, requesting assistance with taking witness statements, and freezing assets. The agreement was signed by CNMV vice-president Paloma Marín during IOSCO’s 50th International Conference in Doha, and CNMV noted it is the first European Union supervisor to join the enhanced arrangement.
