The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that banks’ outstanding derivatives notional amounts reached TWD 106,372.4 billion at the end of June 2026, up TWD 6,899.1 billion, or 6.94%, from the end of March. The increase was driven mainly by growth of TWD 5,065.4 billion in over-the-counter swaps and TWD 1,263.7 billion in over-the-counter forwards. Over-the-counter contracts represented 99.80% of the total, with swaps accounting for 55.35% and forwards 38.90%. Interest rate contracts made up 56.43% of outstanding amounts and foreign exchange contracts 43.40%, while 99.26% of contracts were held for trading. Domestic banks accounted for 63.94% of the market, and the five largest banks by outstanding balance collectively held 50.18%.
